Tax Incentives & Reliefs

The QFC tax framework entitles businesses to:

  • A 0% concessionary tax rate, when operating as an investment manager, reinsurer, captive insurer or if the business is at least 90% Qatari-owned.

  • Tax exemptions on income earned through investment funds, holding structures or Special Purpose Companies (SPCs), subject to conditions.

  • Tax exemptions on dividends, public treasury bond returns and capital gains from disposals of shareholdings of 10% or more.

  • Carry forward tax losses to use against future profits, with no time restriction (carryback is not available).

  • Group loss relief for QFC-licensed firms with at least 75% common ownership.

Tax Certainty & Advance Rulings

QFC’s advance-ruling services are designed to help firms understand how local and international tax rules apply to each business model.
Rulings are typically issued within 30 days and are binding on QFC, rather than the business or individual. This is subject to full disclosure of information and completion of transactions as per the ruling request.Request a Ruling →

Double Taxation Agreements: QFC-licensed firms benefit from Qatar's extensive network of 80+ Double Taxation Agreements, covering income tax, corporation tax, and other taxes of a similar nature. What this means for QFC firms:
  • Reduced withholding taxes on cross-border payments
