His Excellency Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari was appointed Minister of Commerce and Industry in November 2018, and Acting Minister of Finance in May 2021. H.E. has more than 30 years of experience in the banking and financial sectors in Qatar and served as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Qatar National Bank from 2013 to 2018. 

H.E. holds several other key positions in Qatar including the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Financial Centre Authority (QFCA), Member of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment, Member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar (IPAQ), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Stock Exchange, Chairman of the Board of Directors Masraf Al Rayan, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Development Bank. H.E. also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of KATARA Hospitality, Member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Petroleum, and Member of the Board of Regents of Qatar University. 

Possessing a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from the Seattle Pacific University and a Bachelor of Mathematics and Computer Science from the Eastern Washington University, H.E. is well-versed in English and Arabic.
